Bad Bunny x 70s Avant Garde Magazine Concept

Any advice??

In honor of Bad Bunny’s halftime performance, I wanted to share some posters I made in 2025 for my Typography 1 class.

For this project, I designed a 70s-inspired magazine cover using ITC Avant Garde Gothic, which is a geometric sans serif typeface and its based on the Avant Garde Magazine logo from the 1970s.

The type is super clean and influenced by the Bauhaus movement which is all about simple shapes, structure, and most importantly breaking traditional design rules.

What I loved most is that Avant Garde Magazine was known for pushing boundaries with typography making it very expressive and I felt like that connected exactly with Bad Bunny. He breaks norms too especially as a Latino artist performing on one of the biggest American stages making it felt symbolic.

I used Photoshop + Illustrator to build out the layout, experimenting with bold type placement and a 70s color palette oranges, yellows, and layered teals to give it that retro but still modern energy.

Still one of my favorite typography projects 🫶🏽
